Koro Technical and Management Institute The National Diploma in Architecture at Koro Technical and Management Institute is a competency-based programme designed to develop skilled architectural technicians with the knowledge, creativity, and practical abilities required to support Uganda’s growing construction, housing, and urban development sectors. The programme equips learners with the skills to conceptualize, design, prepare drawings, and support the implementation of functional, safe, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing buildings and built environments.

The curriculum combines architectural theory with practical studio-based training in architectural design, building construction, technical drawing, computer-aided design (CAD), building technology, construction materials, surveying, environmental design, structural principles, history of architecture, quantity estimation, project management, and professional practice. Students are trained to apply innovative design approaches while considering local materials, climate-responsive construction, accessibility, sustainability, and Uganda’s building standards and regulations.

The programme includes practical assignments, design projects, site visits, and industrial training to expose students to real-world architectural practice within construction companies, architectural firms, government institutions, and development organisations.

Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to work as Architectural Technicians, Architectural Assistants, CAD Technicians, Building Design Assistants, Site Coordinators, Drafting Technicians, and Construction Project Assistants in public and private sector organisations. Graduates will also have opportunities to establish their own design and construction-related enterprises or pursue further studies in architecture, construction management, and related fields.

The programme is aligned with Uganda’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework and contributes to national development priorities by producing skilled professionals capable of supporting quality housing, infrastructure development, urban planning, and sustainable built environments across Uganda.
